About the OMS
The Office of Moral Superiority is a fictional UK Government department created on April 1st 2026.
It is a new executive body tasked with educating the UK population on the correct opinion.
The OMS will sit at the heart of Whitehall and will work across departments to remove inefficiencies caused by pluralism and transmit approved information to the population.
Sir Gus Lighter, an experienced Whitehall mandarin, has been appointed as the first Director of the OMS. Sir Gus Lighter said:
“In an era dominated by misinformation online, and with the threat of insurgent fascism, governments can no longer afford to leave voters to their own devices. Ultimately a democracy is only as good as its voters, and we can no longer allow voters to consume the media they want as opposed to what they need”.
The motto of the OMS will be “Ni diros al vi, kion pensi”.
This is the Esperanto translation of “We will tell you what to think”.
In addition to providing an accurate source of opinions for the public, the OMS will advise government departments on the appropriate language and terminology, plus ethical positioning on emerging social and cultural issues.
The OMS will eventually offer guidance to members of the public through a dedicated online portal and advisory service. This will include:
- Real-time clarification on acceptable viewpoints
- Guidance on appropriate reactions to current events
- Support in identifying and correcting outdated or problematic beliefs
- Recommendations on socially responsible humour and informal conversation
A microchip is in the process of being developed, which will allow the OMS to transmit the correct opinion into the brains of voters. This will be as easy to download as the latest app.
